To understand the environment on Earth today and tomorrow, we need to explore its history. When and how did oxygen appear in the atmosphere? How is atmospheric CO2 content regulated on long timescales? How does Earth react to a sudden environmental disruption? How did Earth acquire its modern atmospheric composition? How does humankind modifies its environment?
To solve those questions, I investigate the evolution of Earth's environment through geological times. I'm particularly fascinated by the interactions between biological activity and geological constraints. Those biogeochemical cycles control the composition of the ocean-atmosphere system and I want to understand how they have been varying.
In particular, I use stable isotopes to investigate those cycles and solve many (paleo)environmental questions.
